Situated in Ammerschwihr, Lieu-dit Kaefferkopf has been classified Grand Cru in 2007. In 1338, Abbey of Pairis already quoted it.
This recent classification of 2007 is mostly inspired from 1932 delimitation which does recognize the best Terroirs of Ammerschwihr.
This Grand Cru is different from the others because its geology is varied and not homogenous..
We have different parcels in this grand Cru : some situated on the bottom of it, with a brown calcareous soil, which procures fat, power, unctuousness and a fresh length to our Pinot Gris. The Gewurztraminer provides from the middle and the top of the hill on a sandstone soil of the Vosges and granitic substratum which procures freshness, elegance and good ageinge.
